IMPERIA REGATTA: NEVER SEEN SO MANY ITALIAN TOP SAILORS!

The second Memorial Ernesto Quaranta regatta took place last week end in Imperia, showing a growing interest of Italian sailors in the Dragon class.

Two sunny days with western wind from 7 to 15 knots allowed five very technical races. The winner was CLOUD - Beppe Duca the current Italian champion with his strong French crew: Jean Sebastien Ponce and Guillaume Berengé.

Second was TRAMONTANA, Paolo Manzoni with Albino Fravezzi tactician, who in the past in the Star class Italian Olympic team.

Sailing for the first time with the Dragons, in third position, Diego Negri, three times in the Olympic team as well in the Star class, together with his bowman Enrico Voltolini, at the helm of the Michael Kurtz Dragon ACTIVISTS.

Other top Italian sailors, making their debut with the Dragon, were Matteo Morelli, top in the 420 Italian class ranking, helming Mario Quaranta’s boat, fifth in Imperia after the Ukrainian champion Igor Yushko, Luigi Viale, Olympic in the Star, tactician of the Maurizio Rainisio boat, sixth and Beppe Zaoli, former European Snipe class champion, Elia Bertola boat’s helmsman.
